New Public Awareness Campaign

Monday, February 1, 2016 - 1 comments

The 2016 public awareness campaign is now in full force. CTEC is taking a new approach to educate California taxpayers on how to choose a tax preparer. The campaign is focused on promoting a new microsite called KnowYourTaxPreparer.org.

The goal of the microsite is to make the message more shareable through social media, as well as making it easier for taxpayers to understand the differences between tax preparers. The microsite takes less than two minutes to read. It is also available in Spanish and Mandarin.

The campaign will also spread the message by using other visuals that are more conducive to channels like Facebook, Twitter and You Tube. CTEC has launched two new animated You Tube videos and three infographics to help illustrate the message to California taxpayers.

In conjunction with the public awareness campaign, CTEC will launch a statewide Internet advertising campaign, a billboard campaign in Los Angeles and San Diego, and a print campaign to reach the Chinese community in Los Angeles.

CTEC is also working with Franchise Tax Board and Covered California to get the message out through social media, email marketing and press releases.

To track the campaign, follow CTEC on Facebook, FacebookEn Español, Twitter, Pinterest and You Tube @CATaxEdCouncil. You can also follow the campaign via #knowyourtaxpreparer.
